“We have now been testing Music Therapy in the newborn children’s unit, and in the nursing room over quite a long period. This was welcomed with great joy by the majority of mothers, and also by the staff of the newborn children’s unit.

A pleasant, calm, and relaxing working atmosphere developed. The children slept more peacefully, and were much quieter in comparison to the babies’ room without this equipment. Many mothers took advantage of this form of relaxation in the nursing room. These were mainly women who tried to escape from the flood of visitors in the rooms, where women had just given birth, in order to find some peace for themselves, and to be able to fully dedicate themselves to breast-feeding.

Furthermore, Music Therapy was offered to patients with premature contractions. Among this circle of patients, approx. 50% reported a pleasant, calming effect.

Music Therapy was not accepted in such a positive way by female patients in the context of chemotherapy due to malignant diseases.”
